Eighteenth Sunday Ordinary Time

CCTV
I have finally been able to install some CCTV cameras in the church, for better security and also to allow us to keep the church open during the daytime. Hopefully it will make everyone feel safer and deter any vandalism.
Holidays
I will be away starting this weekend, for a few weeks summer holidays, hopefully visiting Rue du Bac, the miraculous place of the Miraculous Medal and vising a priest friend in Spain. If you are going away, have a nice rest. Fr Bibin will be here and Fr Linus Clovis will join him for the weekends.
Scripture Reflection.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus demonstrated and manifested his love for us, his people. The feeding of the five thousand shows the remarkable generosity of God and his great love toward us. The twelve baskets full of leftover fish and loaves show the overflowing generosity of God’s gifts to us – gifts that bring blessing, healing, strength, and refreshment. God never rests in caring for our needs. Jesus never disappoints those who earnestly seek him. What do we learn from today’s gospel? Quiet a lot! First, Jesus both sympathizes and empathizes with us in our distress. He feels what we feel and comes to our aid. Second, whenever we come to God, he never casts us away. Third, he defiles all odds in order to make us comfortable. He makes the impossible happen just for our good. Fourth, the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves prefigures the superabundance of the Eucharist. It is also a sign of the love of God, which sustains us on our journey. God bless, Fr Philip
